Apple Today - 10/15/2015 (AAPL)

seymour_greenz • October 15th 2015 09:32:57 AM

Good Morning,

NASDAQ Futures are up 35 with +25 Fair Value, Dow Futures are up 79. Asian markets were on a roll today, Shanghai closed up 2.32%, Hong Kong up 2.00% and Japan up 1.15%. European markets are also up nearly as much, with the UK, Germany and France all currently up well over 1%. Oil is down while gold and natural gas are both up. Jobless claims fall to record lows. Wal-Mart (WMT) "stunned" the market yesterday with a gloomy earnings outlook warning, triggering an instant 10% drop in WMT share price and a 150 point shock to the Dow. Wal-Mart intends to invest heavily in technology to catch up to online rival Amazon (AMZN). Netflix (NFLX) reported earnings yesterday and is down nearly 5% on slowing US subscriber growth. NFLX had initially dropped into the mid-90s losing over 12% and has since recovered somewhat, even managing to claw back near 110 at 5:46pm. Several financials are reporting this morning, including Citigroup (C), Goldman Sachs (GS) and U.S. Bancorp (USB). Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Mattel (MAT) and Schlumberger (SLB) are among the companies with earnings announcements this afternoon.

AAPL had a rough day yesterday, some combination of the broader market and the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) patent lawsuit loss may be to blame. AAPL opened the day lower and reached a peak of 111.52 on high volume within minutes of the open before "mini-crashing" below 110 and sticking to 110 for a while. Noontime's light human volume welcomed another dip as low as 109.56 by 12:10pm and saw a bounce back to hugging 110.5 for early after before another falter back below 110 just before 3pm. Another shot at 110.5 in the last hour was "swatted" back down and AAPL closed the intra-day session at 110.21. After-hours was slightly positive for AAPL, gaining 9 cents to 110.3.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened up higher at 110.77 at 4:04am on light volume and drifted down to 110.57 on light volume by 7:30am. Less than 30 minutes later AAPL hit 111.03 on high volume before dipping back below 111. AAPL is currently up 53 cents at 110.74.

Classic max-pain is 115.
