Apple Today - 12/16/2015 FED (AAPL)

Good Morning,

NASDAQ Futures are up 24 with +35 Fair Value, Dow Futures are up 101. Futures are solidly in the green this morning on this "big Fed day of days" where we will at last hear the long-awaited interest rate decision at 2pm.

Asian markets closed up quite strong. Japan took the lead, gaining 2.61%. Hong Kong wasn't far behind, closing up 2.01% and China lagged behind at 0.17%, though still green. European markets are up sharply again today with the UK up 1.13%, Germany up 0.98% and France up 0.74%.

Commodities are currently mixed this morning. Oil is down 1.15% and natural gas is down 1.65%. Gold is up 0.26% and corn is up 0.07%. Unleaded gas is up 1.64%. Silver, platinum, copper, wheat and soybeans are all also up while meat and livestock are down with the exception of lean hogs.

US housing starts surge, with permits hitting five-month highs while industrial production falls more than expected. We will hear the long-awaited interest rate decision from the Fed at 2pm.

This afternoon look for earnings from enterprise software titan Oracle Corporation (ORCL), electronics manufacturer Jabil Circuit (JBL), interior furnishing manufacturer Herman Miller (MLHR) and home furnishing retailer Pier 1 Imports (PIR). Tomorrow morning, consulting firm Accenture plc (ACN), consumer food manufacturer General Mills (GIS), Navistar International (NAV), children's books publisher and distributor Scholastic Corporation (SCHL) and recreation vehicle manufacturer Winnebago Industries (WGO) are scheduled to report.

AAPL had another tough day yesterday closing down 1.77%. After some weakening in pre-market on protracted "channel check chatter", AAPL opened at 112 and foundered a bit to 111.4 on moderately high volume before making a dash towards 113, peaking at 112.80 on more high volume. Shortly after, AAPL dropped again and took out the intra-day low, hitting 111.22 at 11:54am on moderate volume. AAPL then bounced to 112 but failed to hold and began a rough afternoon slide down to 110.35 on moderate volume with little resistance and almost no bounce. AAPL ended the intra-day session down 1.99 to 110.49. Though AAPL was down a bit most of after-hours it ended flat back at 110.49.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened up higher in conjunction with Futures and reclaimed 111, reaching a peak of 111.3 at 5:52am on low volume. AAPL then dipped 110.45 at 7:58am on moderate volume before popping back up near the pre-market high at 8:26am on moderately high volume. AAPL is currently up 51 cents at 111 even.
