Apple Today - 12/18/2015 OPEX (AAPL)

Good Morning,

NASDAQ Futures are up 1 with -20 Fair Value (rare to see such a large difference), Dow Futures are down 45 on this December OPEX. Futures were down further this morning and are showing volatile behavior.

Asian markets closed down today. China ended nearly flat, losing only 0.03%, while Hong Kong dropped 0.53% and Japan dropped the most, down 1.90%. European markets are also down today but appear to be improving, the UK is currently down 0.55%, while Germany is down 0.96% and France is down 1.35%.

Commodities are mostly down again this morning. Oil is currently down 0.77%, natural gas is down 0.91% and gold is up 0.57%. Metals, meat, unleaded gas, coffee and soy are up while corn, cocoa and cotton are flat and wheat is down.

Today is the last monthly OPEX of 2015 and "quad witching".

Open-source os software company Red Hat, Inc. (RHT) is up nearly 7% after reporting solid earnings yesterday afternoon. Mobile communications and services company BlackBerry (BBRY) reported earnings that beat expectations this morning and initially surged up 10%, then subsequently dropped down to a 3% gain. Cruise vacation company Carnival Corporation (CCL) is also currently up 1.5% after reporting this morning as well as restaurant company Darden Restaurants (DRI) which is up nearly 3% on positive Q2 results. On the other hand, used vehicles and services company CarMax Group (KMX) reported this morning and is down nearly 8%.

AAPL had an extremely rough day yesterday, losing 2.12% on 45 million shares in volume. Things were "looking up" in pre-market for and AAPL opened at 112.05. Immediately reaching the intra-day high of 112.25, AAPL dropped to 110 by 11am on moderate volume and put up a fight in an attempt to hold 110 which lasted until 2pm when AAPL dropped further towards 109 on relatively low volume. At 3:36pm APPL appeared to be bouncing back and hit 109.82 on moderate volume but quickly reversed and wound up dipping below 109. AAPL closed the intra-day session down a stunning 2.36 to 108.98. After-hours further soured on AAPL, losing another 35 cents to 108.63.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened lower higher in conjunction with Futures and floundered around a narrow range in the mid-108 area aside from a few brief dips below 108.5 and a slight hint of recovery towards 109. AAPL is currently down 24 cents at 108.74.
