Apple Today - 1/04/2016 (AAPL)

seymour_greenz • January 4th 2016 09:59:49 AM

Good Morning,

Welcome back to the "frying pan"... NASDAQ Futures are down 93 with -92 Fair Value, Dow Futures are down 293 on this first trading day of 2016. Futures have been declining all morning.

Asian markets were crushed on Monday amid weak manufacturing data leading to China suspending trading. China dropped 6.86%, Hong Kong lost 2.68% and Japan dropped 3.06%. European markets are down with Germany currently leading the decline, down 3.93%, France is down 2.42% and the UK is down 2.36%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is currently up 1.03%, natural gas is down 1.03% and gold is up 0.99%. Unleaded gas is up 2.14%. Energy is up except natural gas, silver is up, platinum and copper are down. Meat is generally flat. Cocoa, coffee, corn, soybeans and wheat are all down.

Manufacturing surveys showed Chinese factory activity contracted for a 10th straight month in December at a faster pace than it shrank in November. Rising tensions in the Middle East are adding to the trouble. Oil prices soared more than a dollar to $38.50 before giving back some of those gains over China concern which could provide a drag to the global economy.

AAPL had a short, challenging week last week, dropping 2.56%. After a rough start on Monday with a dip into the low-106 area, AAPL had an "attractive" Tuesday, peaking in the mid-109 area and nearly regaining 110 but "not quite". AAPL struggled to hold 107.5 on Wednesday and ended down 2.77 for the week with 2.06 of that drop occurring on Thursday in a dip below 105 on moderate volume, an intra-day loss of 1.92%.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened up sharply lower at 103.6 in conjunction with the nasty Futures and has been struggling to hold 103 as we approach the open. AAPL is currently down a staggering 2.3% or 2.41 at 102.85.

Classic max-pain is 108.
