Apple Today - 2/23/2016 (AAPL)

Good Morning,

Welcome back. NASDAQ Futures are down 8 with -23 Fair Value, S&P Futures are down 1 with -7 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 2 on this Tuesday busy with economic data. Futures hit a low at 3:15am and have been clawing back throughout the morning and are still down but in better shape.

Asian markets declined today. China led the drop down 0.81%, Hong Kong closed down 0.25% and Japan lost 0.37%. European markets are also down today. The UK is currently down 0.52%, Germany is down 0.78% and France is down 0.45%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is down 0.9%, natural gas is up 0.88% and gold is up 1.01%. Unleaded gas is down 0.02% and heating oil is up 0.64%. Metals are up except copper. Meat is mostly up. Cocoa and wheat are up while coffee, cotton, corn and soybeans are down.

Oil prices slip on doubts potential output cap will erode glut. US home prices rose at a steady clip in December with help from job market and low interest rates.

Motorola Solutions, Inc. (MSI) reported yesterday and is up over 6% on a Q4 profit beat. Texas Roadhouse, Inc. (TXRH) is also up over 5% after announcing earnings beating Q4 forecast.

Home Depot, Inc. (HD) announced a 7% bottom line increase this morning and is up nearly 4% in pre-market. Macy's Inc. (M) also announced earnings this morning and is up over 5% on a Q4 earnings beat. On the other hand, Intercept Pharmaceuticals (ICPT) is down over 5% after reporting a Q4 loss. .

This afternoon after the bell, look for earnings from Avis Budget Group, Inc. (CAR), Copart, Inc. (CPRT), Caesars Entertainment (CZR), Dreamworks Animation SKG Inc (DWA), Etsy, Inc. (ETSY), Extra Space Storage, Inc. (EXR), First Solar, Inc. (FSLR), Blackhawk Network Holdings, Inc. (HAWK), Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (JAZZ), Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. (PLKI), CafePress (PRSS), Papa John's International, Inc. (PZZA) and WebMD Health Corp (WBMD).

Tomorrow before the bell, Chesapeake Energy Corporation (CHK), Gildan Activewear Inc. (GIL), Lowe's Companies, Inc. (LOW), Mobileye (MBLY), EchoStar Corporation (SATS), Shutterstock (SSTK), Target Corporation (TGT) and TJX Companies Inc. (TJX) are expected to report.

AAPL saw some strength yesterday afternoon amid low volume, motoring ahead 0.87% for the day. AAPL opened at 96.25 to moderate volume, quickly dipped to a low of 95.92 at 9:39am on relatively row volume before bouncing up to 96.59 within 10 minutes. AAPL then settled in the the low-96 area for most of the afternoon before upshifting gears and touching the intra-day high of 96.90 within moments of a relatively high volume close. AAPL ended the day up 84 cents at 96.88. AAPL dropped 27 cents in after-hours to end at 96.61.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL is lower in conjunction with Futures, moving around a range of 96.25 to 96.6. AAPL is currently down 53 cents at 96.34 as we approach the open.
