Apple Today - 2/29/2016 (AAPL)

Good Morning,

Happy leap day! NASDAQ Futures are up 2 with -3 Fair Value, S&P Futures are up 3 with flat Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 20 on this final bonus day of February. Futures were green last night and dipped in early morning, hitting a low after 1am and then began a bounce back at 5am that is bringing the potential of recovery to the open.

Asian markets closed down today. China led the selloff, down 2.86%, Hong Kong dropped 1.3% and Japan lost 1%. European markets are down today. The UK is currently down 0.14%, Germany is down 0.86% and France is down 0.01%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is up 0.34%, natural gas is down 5.08% and gold is up 0.66%. Unleaded gas is down 0.36% and heating oil is up 0.83%. Metals are up except copper. Meat is down. Cocoa, corn and wheat are up while coffee, cotton and soybeans are down.

G20 disappoints. Oil gains on potential supply tightening.

ACADIA Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ACAD) reported this morning and is down over 1% after missing expectations. NRG Energy, Inc. (NRG) also announced earnings this morning and is down over 7%.

This afternoon after the bell, look for earnings from Crocs, Inc. (CROX) and Workday (WDAY).

Tomorrow before the bell, AutoZone, Inc (AZO), Dollar Tree, Inc. (DLTR), JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. (JKS), Kate Spade & Company (KATE) and Medtronic plc (MDT) are expected to report.

AAPL had a quite a swing of a week, ending up 0.66% for the low volume week. AAPL opened above 96 on Monday and spent the day battling to stay above 96 and striving for 97. Tuesday AAPL began a slide that ended the day below 95. On Wednesday AAPL gapped even lower, and dipped into 93 before the big turnaround that brought AAPL back up above 96. On Thursday AAPL managed to claw back to the mid-96 area by the end of the day. To finish the week out, AAPL opened up at 97.2 on moderate volume, made a dash for 98, reaching a height of 98.02 at 11:08am on relatively high volume, followed by a dip to 96.58 and landing on the OPEX 97 heli-pad by the end of the day. AAPL ended the day up 15 cents at 96.91, a daily gain of 0.16%. AAPL dropped 6 cents in after-hours, closing at 96.85.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened lower near 96.5 in conjunction with Futures, tagged 96 just before 5am and then steadily recovered along with Futures. AAPL is currently up 23 cents at 97.14 as we approach the open.
