Apple Today - 4/19/2016 (AAPL)

Good Morning,

NASDAQ Futures are up 31 with +16 Fair Value, S&P Futures are up 10 with +8 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 53 as we kick this earnings season into high gear. Futures were flat at the turn of morning but launched upwards after 1am and continued onward well into the green zone and are currently near the highs as we await the open.

Asian markets rallied today. China gained 0.3%, Hong Kong went up 1.26% and Japan led the rally, up 3.68%. European markets are also up today. The UK is currently up 0.37%, France is up 2.28% and Germany is leading the advance, up 2.28%.

Commodities are mostly up this morning. Oil is up 1.03%, natural gas is up 2.68% and gold is up 1.08%. Unleaded gas is up 1.04% and heating oil is up 0.7%. Metals are up. Meat is mostly down. Cocoa, coffee, corn, wheat and soybeans are up while cotton is down.

Market set for higher open as oil steadies. Global stocks rise as strike in Kuwait lifts oil prices. German investor optimism rises to 2016 high as China risk abates. Netflix plunges on forecast for weakening subscriber growth.

Netflix, Inc. (NFLX) reported Q1 earnings yesterday afternoon with an earnings beat but lower outlook on an international growth speed-bump and is down nearly 9% in pre-market.
International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) announced Q1 earnings yesterday afternoon with mixed results and is down 4%. Rambus, Inc. (RMBS) reported Q1 earnings topping expectations but with a weak outlook and is down 12%. On the other hand, GigPeak, Inc. (GIG) reported Q1 earnings yesterday afternoon and is up nearly 4%.

This morning, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) reported earnings and is down nearly 1% on a 60% drop in Q1 profits. On the other hand, Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) announced Q1 earnings this morning with a beat on earnings and revenue and is up slightly in pre-market. Harley-Davidson, Inc. (HOG) also reported and is up nearly 1% on beating Q1 expectations with increased sales.

This afternoon after the bell, look for earnings from Discover Financial Services (DFS), Interactive Brokers Group, Inc. (IBKR), Intel Corporation (INTC), VMware, Inc. (VMW) and Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO).

Tomorrow morning, The Coca-Cola Company (KO), ARM Holdings, plc (ARMH), Nielsen Holdings N.V. (NLSN), DISH Network Corporation (DISH), Angie's List, Inc.(ANGI), Abbott Laboratories (ABT), EMC Corporation (EMC), Tupperware Brands Corporation (TUP), Textron Inc (TXT) and U.S. Bancorp (USB) are expected to report.

The recently hibernating AAPL polar bear crawled further out onto the ice yesterday with AAPL dropping 2.16% on extremely heavy volume. AAPL opened at 108.9 to heavy volume, instantly setting the intra-day high of 108.95 and quickly dropping below 108 within 15 minutes. As the bear crawled further out after lunchtime, the ice bowed and AAPL dipped lower to 107 and set an intra-day low of 106.94 at 2:24pm on moderately high volume and continued on around 107 on lower volume. AAPL saw a slight recovery bounce later in the afternoon towards the close, making a dash towards the upper-107 area. AAPL ended the day down 2.37 at 107.48 and declined an additional 3 cents in after-hours to 107.45.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened higher above 108 in conjunction with Futures and made an attempt for the mid-108 area early on low volume but drifted towards 108 later on where AAPL has since struggled to hold 108. AAPL is currently up 37 cents at 107.85 as we approach the open.


Classic max-pain is 108.
