Apple Today - 4/28/2016 (AAPL)

Good Morning,

Red again. NASDAQ Futures are down 19 with -4 Fair Value, S&P Futures are down 15 with -13 Fair Value and Dow Futures are down 138 as the BOJ holds off from further stimulus for Japan and earnings season peaks. Futures have been down all morning, slipped to a low at 4am and are now up from the lows as we await the open.

Asian markets ended mixed today. China fell 0.27%, Hong Kong gained 0.12% and Japan fell 3.61%. European markets are down today. The UK is currently down 1.04%, Germany is down 1.17% and France is down 1.35%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is up 0.09%, natural gas is down 2.14% and gold is up 0.78%. Unleaded gas is down 0.88% and heating oil is up 0.32%. Metals are up except copper. Meat is mixed. Cocoa, coffee, corn and wheat are up while cotton and soybeans are down.

US economy grew 0.5% in Q1, slowest pace in 2 years. Jobless claims in US hover around lowest level in 4 decades. Japan stocks tumble after BOJ holds off on additional stimulus. Yen gains most in 5 years on BOJ surprise.

Facebook (FB) reported Q1 earnings yesterday afternoon that crushed expectations and is up nearly 11% in pre-market. SanDisk Corporation (SNDK) announced Q1 earnings yesterday beating expectations and is up nearly 1.5%. First Solar, Inc. (FSLR) reported mixed results for Q1 earnings with a revenue miss and is down nearly 3.5% in pre-market. NETGEAR, Inc. (NTGR) announced Q1 earnings beating estimates and is up nearly 7%. Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (VRTX) reported earnings missing expectations with a loss and is down nearly 3%.

Ford Motor Company (F) reported Q1 earnings this morning beating expectations and is up over 2%. Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. (CLF) announced Q1 results this morning that beat expectations and is up nearly 9%. On the other hand, Domino's Pizza, Inc. (DPZ) reported Q1 results missing expectations on strong US dollar and is down nearly 10%. Sirius XM Holdings Inc. (SIRI) announced Q1 earnings meeting forecasts and is up 0.25%. Dunkin' Brands (DNKN) reported Q1 results that beat expectations is down nearly 1%. Sony Corporation (SNE) also reported and is flat in pre-market.

This afternoon after the bell, look for earnings from athenahealth, Inc. (ATHN), Cardtronics, Inc. (CATM), LinkedIn (LNKD), Pixelworks, Inc. (PXLW), Molina Healthcare, Inc. (MOH), Expedia, Inc. (EXPE), Columbia Sportswear Company (COLM), Groupon, Inc. (GRPN), MoneyGram International, Inc. (MGI), Nu Skin Enterprises Inc. (NUS), Pandora Media (P), Rovi Corporation (ROVI), VeriSign, Inc. (VRSN), Acadia Healthcare Co. (ACHC), Baidu, Inc. (BIDU), Starz (STRZA), Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN), Juniper Networks (JNPR), NetSuite Inc. (N), Skyworks Solutions, Inc. (SWKS) and Western Digital Corporation (WDC).

Tomorrow morning, Moody's Corporation (MCO), Ingram Micro Inc. (IM), Monster Beverage Corp. (MNST), AstraZeneca Group plc (AZN), CBOE Holdings (CBOE), Chevron Corporation (CVX), ImmunoGen, Inc. (IMGN), Legg Mason Inc. (LM), Seagate Technology (STX), Exxon Mobil Corporation (XOM) are expected to report.

After the panic button had been pushed, AAPL saw a modest recovery from the earnings-inspired lows and ended down 6.26% on gigantic volume as opposed to over 8%. AAPL opened at 96 to huge volume and immediately put in an intra-day low of 95.68 on heavy volume before reversing and recovering 97 within minutes on huge volume. AAPL went on to peak at 98.71 at 11:34am on heavy volume before settling down to the upper-97 area on moderate but strong volume where AAPL remained for the rest of the day. AAPL ended the day down 6.53 at 97.82 and gained 18 cents in after-hours to 98.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened lower in conjunction with Futures and has been hovering around 97.5 all morning. AAPL is currently down 25 cents at 97.57 as we approach the open.
