Apple Today - 5/06/2016 OPEX (AAPL)

Good Morning,

NASDAQ Futures are down 14 with -18 Fair Value, S&P Futures are down 7 with -8 Fair Value and Dow Futures are down 56 as the jobs report numbers sink in. Futures were down in early morning and had a brief recovery just before 5am but have since drifted down and have hit new lows in reaction to the jobs numbers as we await the open.

Asian markets ended down today. China lost 2.82%, Hong Kong dropped 1.66% and Japan ended down 0.25%. European markets are also down today. The UK is currently down 0.89%, Germany is down 0.87% and France is down 1.22%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is down 1.38%, natural gas is down 1.11% and gold is up 0.61%. Unleaded gas is down 0.58% and heating oil is up 1.37%. Metals are mixed. Meat is up. Coffee, cotton, corn, wheat and soybeans are up while cocoa is down.

US payrolls gain in April smallest in seven months. Mortgage rates retreat.

Herbalife Ltd. (HLF) announced strong Q1 earnings yesterday afternoon with optimistic FTC news and is up over 12%. Activision Blizzard, Inc (ATVI) reported strong Q1 results beating expectations and is up 6% in pre-market. FireEye, Inc. (FEYE) announced Q1 earnings with a loss, lowered forecast and a CEO change and is down nearly 10%. ACADIA Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ACAD) reported a Q1 loss and is up over 6%. Jones Soda Co. (JSDA) also announced earnings yesterday afternoon and is up slightly in pre-market.

On Monday before the bell, look for earnings from Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited (TEVA), Wayfair (W) and Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (INO).

AAPL had a painful ex-div distributing another $3 billion to patient shareholders and dropped 1.01% in the process on moderate volume. AAPL opened at 94.01 to high volume, set an intra-day high of 94.07 on high volume and quickly crushed down to the low-93 area. AAPL held 93 fairly well for a couple of hours but started to wane after lunch, setting an intra-day low of 92.68 at 1:38pm on low volume. Subsequently, AAPL recovered to the lower-93 area on relatively light volume and surged a little into the close to end at 93.24, down 95 cents for the day. AAPL dropped an additional 5 cents in after-hours to 93.19.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened in-line with yesterday's close and has gravitated around that line most of the morning with periodic dips and spikes. AAPL is currently up 6 cents at 93.3 as we approach the open.
