Apple Today - 5/25/2016 (AAPL)

Good Morning,

NASDAQ Futures are up 21 with +23 Fair Value, S&P Futures are up 8 with +9 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 66 as we wait for a round of earnings late bloomers. Futures have been up all morning, hit a peak at 5:44am and backed off slightly but are still up strong as we await the open.

Asian markets ended mixed. China lost 0.23%, Hong Kong gained 2.71% and Japan went up 1.57%. European markets are up today. The UK is currently up 0.57%, Germany is up 1.3% and France is up 0.96%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is up 0.78%, natural gas is up 0.81% and gold is down 0.48%. Unleaded gas is down 0.76% and heating oil is up 0.88%. Metals are up except gold. Meat is mixed. Coffee, cotton, corn, wheat and soybeans are up while cocoa is down.

Strong German business morale boosts growth hopes. Shell cuts 2,200 more jobs.

HP Inc. (HPQ) reported Q2 earnings yesterday afternoon, announced a spinoff and is up nearly 2% in pre-market. On the other hand, Intuit Inc. (INTU) announced Q3 earnings beating expectations and is down nearly 2%.

Express, Inc. (EXPR) reported Q1 earnings with a 2 cent miss, lowered guidance and is down nearly 14%. Tiffany & Co. (TIF) announced Q1 earnings with a 4 cent miss, mixed guidance and is down over 4%.

This afternoon after the close, look out for earnings from Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (LGF), NetApp, Inc. (NTAP), Copart, Inc. (CPRT), Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. (PLKI), Costco Wholesale Corporation (COST), Guess? Inc. (GES) and Williams-Sonoma Inc. (WSM).

Tomorrow morning, Dollar Tree, Inc. (DLTR), Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF), Burlington Stores, Inc (BURL), Trina Solar Limited (TSL), Dollar General Corporation (DG), Movado Group, Inc. (MOV) and Seadrill Limited (SDRL) are expected to report.

The AAPL engine roared onward and upward with AAPL gaining 1.52% on moderate volume. AAPL opened at 97.22 to heavy volume and took a brief dip to the intra-day low of 96.84 at 9:48am on relatively high volume before returning to a powerful upward trajectory that hit 98 and leveled off to the upper-97 area in late afternoon, setting a high of 98.09 at 3:26pm and closing the day up 1.47 at 97.9. AAPL gained an additional 30 cents in after-hours to 98.2.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened up in conjunction with Futures and initially gravitated towards the upper-98 area on momentum and reports of a new Apple Echo-like rival device in progress with Siri functionality. AAPL later settled towards the mid-98 area and is currently up 57 cents at 98.47 as we approach the open.
