Apple Today - 5/26/2016 (AAPL)

Good Morning,

NASDAQ Futures are up 5 with +4 Fair Value, S&P Futures are up 2 with +1 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 29 on this Thursday packed with economic data. Futures have been rising up all morning with a small dip at 5am and are up strong we await the open.

Asian markets ended up. China gained 0.26%, Hong Kong went up 0.14% and Japan increased 0.09%. European markets are mixed today. The UK is currently down 0.66%, Germany is up 0.66% and France is up 0.57%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is up 1.01%, natural gas is down 1.51% and gold is up 0.2%. Unleaded gas is up 0.41% and heating oil is down 0.09%. Metals are up. Meat is up. Coffee, cotton, corn, wheat and soybeans are up while cocoa is down.

Brent oil breaks above $50 for first time in seven months. Initial jobless claims fall as US layoffs prove temporary. US durable goods surge on transportation, but business spending weak.

Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (LGF) reported Q4 earnings beating expectations and is up nearly 13.5% in pre-market. Williams-Sonoma Inc. (WSM) announced Q1 earnings beating expectations and is up nearly 2%. On the other hand, NetApp, Inc. (NTAP) announced Q4 earnings and is down nearly 7.5% on a 3 cent miss and mixed guidance. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. (PLKI) reported Q1 earnings that missed expectations and is down over 4%. Guess? Inc. (GES) announced Q1 earnings and is down over 1% on a 4 cent miss and guidance below expectations. Burlington Stores, Inc (BURL) reported Q1 that beat expectations and is up over 4.5%.

Costco Wholesale Corporation (COST) reported Q3 earnings this morning and is up nearly 2% in pre-market. Dollar Tree, Inc. (DLTR) announced Q1 earnings beating expectations and is up over 8%. Dollar General Corporation (DG) reported Q1 earnings that topped forecasts and is up over 3.5%. Seadrill Limited (SDRL) announced Q1 earnings and is up nearly 5%. On the other hand, Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) announced Q1 earnings that missed expectations and is down over 10.5%. Trina Solar Limited (TSL) also reported Q1 earnings and is currently flat.

This afternoon after the close, look out for earnings from Deckers Outdoor Corporation (DECK), Palo Alto Networks (PANW), NQ Mobile Inc. (NQ) and GameStop Corp. (GME).

Tomorrow morning, JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. (JKS) and Big Lots, Inc. (BIG) are expected to report.


The AAPL mountain rose to a crest yesterday and closed up 1.76% on moderate volume. AAPL opened up at 98.67 and took an immediate dip to set an intra-day low of 98.11 on volume, then almost just as quickly reversed to climb above 99 by 10:46am on high volume. After a little resistance, AAPL soared to a peak of 99.74 at 10:06pm on moderate volume and then dipped towards 99 after 3pm, then bouncing strong into the close. AAPL closed the day up 1.72 at 99.62 and dropped 7 cents in after-hours to 99.55.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened up in conjunction with Futures and hung around the mid-99 area for most of the morning with a small push above and a dip below. AAPL is up 16 cents at 99.78 as we approach the open.
