Apple Today - 7/27/2016 FED (AAPL)

Good Morning,

NASDAQ Futures are up 37 with +35 Fair Value, S&P Futures are up 4 with +4 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 48 as a plethora of earnings pour in and the reactions to the results mount, including optimism for AAPL, and we await another strong earnings wave over the next 24 hours. Today is also a fairly busy day of economic data with a FOMC announcement at 2pm. Futures were up in early morning, peaked just before 3:30am and have held up quite strong despite a shallow dip just before 7:30am and have since bounced up as we await the open.

Asian markets ended mixed. China dropped 1.91%, Hong Kong went up 0.40% and Japan gained 1.72%. European markets are up. The UK is up 0.65, Germany is up 0.92% and France is leading the advance, up 1.64%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is down 0.26%, natural gas is down 0.90% and gold is down 0.11. Unleaded gas is flat and heating oil is down 0.72%. Metals are mostly down except gold spot and platinum. Meats are mostly up. cocoa, cotton, corn, wheat and soybeans are up while coffee is down.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) reported Q3 earnings that beat expectations and is up over 8% in pre-market. Akamai Technologies, Inc. (AKAM) is down over 12% after announcing Q2 earnings with mixed results. Panera Bread Company (PNRA) reported Q2 earnings that topped forecasts and is up nearly 4%. Twitter, Inc. (TWTR) announced Q2 earnings and is down over 10.5% on slowing growth. Buffalo Wild Wings, Inc. (BWLD) announced Q2 earnings that beat estimates and is up over 5%. United States Steel Corporation (X) reported a Q2 loss and is up over 8%. Cavium Networks, Inc. (CAVM) is up over 5% after reporting a Q2 loss but beating estimates. Juniper Networks (JNPR) reported Q2 earnings that topped expectations and is down nearly 2%.

Ingersoll-Rand plc (IR) reported Q2 earnings that beat expectations and is up over 1%. The Coca-Cola Company (KO) announced Q2 earnings below expectations with weak international markets to blame and is down over 2%. ARM Holdings, plc (ARMH) reported Q2 earnings that beat estimates and is down over 0.5%. Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. (DPS) is up slightly after posting a profitable Q2. Garmin Ltd. (GRMN) announced Q2 earnings that beat expectations and is up over 8.5%. T-Mobile US, Inc. (TMUS) reported a profitable Q2 with earnings that beat estimates and is up over 1.5%. Waste Management, Inc. (WM) announced Q2 earnings that beat expectations and is up over 0.5%. Angie's List, Inc. (ANGI) is up over 11.5% after posting a Q2 profit and surpassing expectations. Hilton Worldwide Holdings (HLT) announced a Q3 earnings lag and cut 2016 forecast and is down over 1.5%. Corning Inc. (GLW) reported Q2 earnings that topped forecasts and is up nearly 1%. The Boeing Company (BA) is up 2% after announcing Q2 earnings with a loss of 44 cents yet beat expectations. Comcast Corporation (CMCSA), reported Q2 earnings that topped expectations, yet showed a decrease in film sales and is up nearly 2.5%. General Dynamics Corporation (GD) announced Q2 earnings that topped expectations and is up nearly 1.5%. Level 3 Communications, Inc. (LVLT) announced Q2 earnings that beat forecasts and is down over 3%. Deutsche Bank AG (DB) reported Q2 earnings that missed and is down over 2%.

AAPL drifted lower into the earnings event yesterday, dipping 0.73% on a bit higher than average volume. AAPL opened at 96.83 to high volume and set an intra-day high of 97.97 on moderately high volume before struggling in the upper-97 area and falling throughout the afternoon, hitting a low of 96.42 at 3:22pm on moderately high volume and bouncing slightly into the close. AAPL ended the day down 67 cents at 96.63. After reporting strong earnings, AAPL soared up above 103 and ended after-hours up 6.62 at 103.25.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened up higher at 103 and drifted to the lower-102 area before recovering 103 and then pushing up above 104. AAPL is currently up 7.73 at 104.40 as we approach the open.
