Apple Today - 8/04/2016 EX-DIV (AAPL)

Good Morning,

NASDAQ Futures are up 4 with +1 Fair Value, S&P Futures are up 5 with +2 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 47 on this Thursday in the peak of earnings crossed with a packed day of economic data, including jobless claims and AAPL Ex-Div. Futures were up slightly from flat in early morning and took a step up after 6:30am and are near the highs as we await the open.

Asian markets ended up. China gained 0.13%, Hong Kong went up 0.43% and Japan led the advance, up 1.07%. European markets are up. The UK is up 1.51%, Germany is up 0.95% and France is up 0.77%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is down 0.37%, natural gas is up 0.39% and gold is up 0.01%. Unleaded gas is down 1.39% and heating oil is down 0.49%. Metals are down except gold. Meat is mixed. Cotton, corn, wheat and soybeans are up while cocoa and coffee are down.

US jobless claims in increased by 3,000 last week to 269,000. UK interest rates cut to 0.25%.

Tesla Motors (TSLA) is down slightly in pre-market after announcing another loss in Q2 yesterday afternoon. HubSpot, Inc. (HUBS) reported Q2 earnings with a loss that beat expectations and has yet to react. First Solar, Inc. (FSLR) is up slightly after reporting Q2 results that topped estimates but offered lower guidance. Chimera Investment Corporation (CIM) announced Q2 earnings that missed forecasts and is down over 1%. Herbalife Ltd. (HLF) reported Q2 earnings that beat estimates and raised guidance and is up over 1.5%. Tesoro Corporation (TSO) announced Q2 earnings that beat forecasts and is down nearly 2%. Jack In The Box Inc. (JACK) reported excellent Q3 results that beat expectations and is up over 7.5%. Sunoco LP (SUN) is down nearly 4.5% after reporting results that topped forecasts. Rosetta Stone Inc. (RST) reported a narrower than expected Q2 loss and is up nearly 0.5%.

Duke Energy Corporation (DUK) is up slightly in pre-market after reporting Q2 results this morning that beat expectations. Priceline Group Inc. (PCLN) reported Q2 earnings and is down over 0.5% . ReWalk Robotics (RWLK) announced Q2 earnings and is up over 1.5%. Intercept Pharmaceuticals (ICPT) is up over 2.5% after reporting a Q2 loss that beat expectations. TripAdvisor Inc. (TRIP) announced QQ earnings and is down over 8%. Viacom Inc. (VIAB) reported Q3 earnings and is up nearly 4%. Nokia Corporation (NOK) announced Q2 results and is down nearly 2.5%. Stratasys, Inc. (SSYS) is up nearly 6.5% after reporting a Q2 loss with EPS that beat expectations. Kellogg Company (K) announced Q2 earnings and is up over 0.5%. ImmunoGen, Inc. (IMGN) is down nearly 8% after announcing a disappointing earnings loss for Q4.

This afternoon after the bell, look out for earnings from Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (LGF), LinkedIn (LNKD), Sierra Wireless, Inc. (SWIR), Symantec Corporation (SYMC), Organovo Holdings, Inc. (ONVO), Mad Catz Interactive, Inc (MCZ), Overstock.com, Inc. (OSTK), Zynga (ZNGA), Activision Blizzard, Inc (ATVI), FireEye, Inc. (FEYE), Nu Skin Enterprises Inc. AAPL coasted up 1.25% on low volume. AAPL opened up at 104.81 to high volume and immediately set a low of 104.77 before moving up to the mid-105 area on high volume and popping into the upper-105 area shortly after 10am on moderate volume. AAPL settled back to mid-105 later in the morning where it remained for hours on low volume and then took another swipe at the upper-105 area after lunch also on low volume and again after 3pm. AAPL ended the day up 1.31 at 105.79 and gained 9 more cents in after-hours to 105.88.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened lower due to Ex-Div and gravitated to the mid-105 line. AAPL is currently down 30 cents at 105.49 as we approach the open.
