Apple Today - 8/05/2016 OPEX (AAPL)

Good Morning,

NASDAQ Futures are up 8 with +11 Fair Value, S&P Futures are up 4 with +3 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 21 on this first August OPEX and jobs report. Futures were up in early morning and inched further up at 3am and are near the highs as we await the open.

Asian markets ended mixed. China fell 0.19%, Hong Kong gained 1.44% and Japan ended flat. European markets are up. The UK is up 0.10%, Germany is up 0.18% and France is leading the advance, up 0.40%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is down 0.55%, natural gas is down 1.31% and gold is up 0.08%. Unleaded gas is down 0.77% and heating oil is down 1.11%. Metals are mixed, gold and platinum are up while silver and copper are down. Meat is mostly down. Cocoa, coffee, cotton, corn, wheat and soybeans are all up.

US adds more than 250,000 new jobs in July, unemployment steady.

LinkedIn (LNKD) is up slightly in pre-market after reporting a Q2 earnings loss yesterday afternoon and growing revenue that topped estimates due to member growth. Zynga (ZNGA), announced Q2 earnings with mixed results, beating earnings but shows decreasing users and is down over 6.5%. Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (LGF) reported Q1 earnings that beat expectations and is up nearly 6.5%. Jamba, Inc. (JMBA) announced a Q1 earnings loss and is up nearly 1%. Activision Blizzard, Inc (ATVI) reported Q2 results that beat estimates and is up nearly 3.5%. FireEye, Inc. (FEYE) announced Q2 earnings that missed expectations, gave weak guidance and plans layoffs and is down over 16%. Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (TTWO) reported Q1 results that beat expectations and is up over 3.5%. El Pollo Loco Holdings (LOCO) announced Q2 results that beat forecasts and is up over 4.5%. Tesaro (TSRO) is up slightly after reporting a Q2 loss that topped expectations. Overstock.com, Inc. (OSTK) is up slightly after reporting a loss of 4 cents. Sierra Wireless, Inc. (SWIR) is down nearly 18% after announcing earnings profit that topped expectations. Symantec Corporation (SYMC) reported Q1 earnings that beat expectations and is up nearly 5.5%. Weight Watchers International, Inc. (WTW) announced a Q2 revenue miss and is down over 9.5%. Motorola Solutions, Inc. (MSI) is down slightly after reporting a better than expected Q2. Green Dot Corporation (GDOT) is up slightly after announcing Q2 results that topped forecasts. Noodles & Company (NDLS) reported Q2 earnings with a loss that missed expectations and is down over 6%. The Kraft Heinz Company (KHC) announced Q2 earnings that beat expectations and is up nearly 4.5%. Bankrate Inc. (RATE) reported a Q2 loss and is down over 1.5%. ACADIA Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ACAD) announced a Q2 loss that missed expectations and is down nearly 2.5%. Organovo Holdings, Inc. (ONVO) reported a Q1 loss that beat expectations and is up over 10%. Web.com Group, Inc (WEB) announced Q1 earnings and is down over 9.5%. Kindred Healthcare, Inc. (KND) reported Q2 earnings that beat forecasts and is up nearly 1.5%.

Virgin America (VA) reported Q2 earnings this morning that beat expectations and is up nearly 1% in pre-market. The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc (RBS) announced a Q2 loss and is down over 8%.

Monday morning before the open, Horizon Pharma plc (HZNP) and Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (INO) are expected to report.


AAPL gained 0.08% on low volume, despite Ex-Div and another $3 billion distribution. AAPL opened down at 105.55 to high volume and popped up to set an intra-day high of 106 on moderate volume before sharply dipping to an intra-day low of 105.28 at 10:10am, also on moderate volume. AAPL spent most of the rest of the day milling around the mid to upper-105 area on low volume and made another dash for 106 at 3:49pm on moderate volume. AAPL ended the day up 8 cents at 105.87 and dropped 2 cents in after-hours to 105.85.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened higher in conjunction with Futures and initially hung around the 106-line and made a break for mid-106 later in the morning. AAPL is currently up 57 cents at 106.44 as we approach the open.
