Apple Today - 8/10/2016 (AAPL)

Good Morning,

NASDAQ Futures are up 6 with +5 Fair Value, S&P Futures are up 2 with +2 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 11 as we hit mid-week, contemplate new market highs and earnings season sails slowly towards the sunset. Futures were down slightly in early morning but stepped up shortly after 3am and went on to peak just before 5:30am and are near the highs as we await the open.

Asian markets ended mostly down. China dropped 0.23%, Hong Kong gained 0.12% and Japan fell 0.18%. European markets are down. The UK is down 0.10%, Germany is down 0.16% and France is leading the decline, down 0.17%.

Commodities are mostly up this morning. Oil is down 0.58%, natural gas is up 1.30% and gold is up 0.90%. Unleaded gas is up 0.85% and heating oil is up 0.44%. Metals are up strong. Meat is mixed. Cocoa, coffee, corn, wheat and soybeans are up while cotton is down.

Markets set to open flat after record-setting day. OPEC says weak oil demand is here to stay.

This afternoon after the bell, look out for earnings from
SunPower Corporation (SPWR) reported Q2 earnings yesterday afternoon that missed expectations, cut 2016 forecast and 1,200 jobs and is down nearly 30% in pre-market. The Walt Disney Company (DIS) announced Q3 earnings is down nearly 1.5%. Yelp (YELP) reported a profitable Q2, boosted 2016 guidance and is up nearly 13.5%. SolarCity Corp. (SCTY) is down slightly after announcing a $250 million Q2 loss. CyberArk Software Ltd. (CYBR) reported Q2 earnings that beat expectations but soft guidance and is down nearly 6%. Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (JAZZ) is down over 0.5% after reporting Q2 earnings that missed expectations. Medivation, Inc. (MDVN) announced Q2 earnings that beat expectations and is down nearly 0.5%. The Container Store Group, Inc. (TCS) reported an adjusted Q1 earnings loss of 9 cents per share and is up nearly 2.5%. Fossil, Inc. (FOSL) announced Q2 earnings that beat expectations and is up nearly 5.5%

Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation (RL) reported a Q1 earnings loss that beat expectations this morning and is up nearly 7% in pre-market. Michael Kors Holdings (KORS) announced Q1 earnings with disappointing guidance and is down nearly 4%. The Wendy's Company (WEN) reported Q2 earnings that topped forecasts but growth concerns and is down nearly 4%. Aramark Services, Inc. (ARMK) announced adjusted Q3 earnings of 34 cents per share, beating forecasts and is up over 2.5%.

This afternoon after the bell, look out for earnings from Elizabeth Arden, Inc. (RDEN), Flowers Foods, Inc. (FLO), Shake Shack (SHAK) and Blue Buffalo (BUFF).

Tomorrow morning before the open, Macy's Inc. (M), Kohl's Corporation (KSS), Materialise NV (MTLS), Vertex Energy, Inc. (VTNR) and Alibaba Group Holding Limited (BABA) are expected to report.

AAPL studied the landscape and then "jumped up" 0.41% on low volume yesterday. AAPL opened down at 108.23 to high volume and quickly recovered green on strong volume before momentarily peaking in the mid-108 area on moderately strong volume. AAPL then took a quick dip towards 108, setting an intra-day low of 108.01 at 10:30am on moderate volume. AAPL quickly bounced back and turned green within 20 minutes and subsequently held the lower mid-108 area through lunch. AAPL then began a jump in early afternoon that brought AAPL up towards 109, setting an intra-day peak of 108.94 on 3:26pm on mild volume before settling slightly into the close. AAPL ended the day up 44 cents at 108.81 and dipped 14 cents in after-hours to 108.67.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened lower in conjunction with Futures and dipped to a low of 108.53 at 6:54am before inching back up to green and later peaked at 108.93 before settling slightly. AAPL is currently up 6 cents at 108.87 as we approach the open.
