Good Morning,

S&P Futures are flat with +2 Fair Value, NASDAQ Futures are up 4 with +6 Fair Value and Dow Futures are down 2 on this Tuesday as a new earnings season heats up. Samsung (SSNLF) continued to push higher on Tuesday after the firm reported its biggest quarterly profit in 3 years.

Today's economic calendar includes Redbook Chain Store Sales, PMI Manufacturing Index Flash, Existing Home Sales, Richmond Fed Mfg. this morning followed by Results of $26B, 2-Year Note Auction this afternoon.

The big earnings winner is Alibaba Group Holding Limited (BABA), up nearly 4.5%. On the other hand, Verizon Communications (VZ) is down over 3.5%.

Futures were down in early morning and hit lows near 12:20am before bouncing to positive territory and hitting highs shortly after 5am and are off the highs as we approach the open.

Asian markets ended mixed. China went up 0.18%, Hong Kong gained 0.22% and Japan dropped 0.55%. European markets are up. The UK is up 0.14%, France is up 0.04% and Germany is leading the advance, up 0.16%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is up 0.72%, natural gas is up 2.22% and gold is down 0.24%. Unleaded gas is up 1.43% and heating oil is up 0.82%. Metals are mixed, gold and silver are down while copper and platinum are up. Meats are mostly down. Cocoa, coffee and soybeans are up while cotton, corn and wheat are down.

Existing US home sales tumble in December. Dollar steadies after stumble, Brexit ruling saps sterling. Euro area starts 2017 on a strong tote as price pressures build. Alibaba raises guidance as strategy shift makes progress.

LG Display Co., Ltd. (LPL) reported strong Q4 results yesterday afternoon and is up slightly in pre-market.

Alibaba Group Holding Limited (BABA) reported Q3 results this morning with adjusted earnings of $1.30 per share that beat expectations and is up nearly 4.5% in pre-market. Alcoa, Inc. (AA) announced Q4 results and is up nearly 1.5%. Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) reported Q4 results with a lower than expected 2017 forecast and is down nearly 1.5%. Verizon Communications (VZ) announced Q4 results that missed expectations and is down over 3.5%. 3M Company (MMM) reported Q4 results with a profit of $1.88 per share that topped expectations and is down nearly 1%. Kimberly-Clark Corporation (KMB) is up slightly after beating Q4 estimates with adjusted earnings of $1.45 per share. E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company (DuPont) (DD) reported Q4 earnings that topped estimates with earnings of $265 million and is down over 0.5%. Corning Inc. (GLW) is up over 2% after reporting Q4 results that beat expectations. Janus Capital Group Inc. (JNS) announced Q4 results with adjusted earnings of 20 cents per share that missed estimates and is down over 0.5%. Lockheed Martin (LMT) is down nearly 3% after announcing Q4 results with earnings per share of $3.25 that beat estimates.

This afternoon after the bell, look out for earnings from Alcoa, Inc. (AA), Discover Financial Services (DFS), Capital One Financial Corporation (COF), Cree, Inc. (CREE), Logitech International S.A. (LOGI), Texas Instruments Inc. (TXN) and Seagate Technology (STX).

Tomorrow morning before the open, McCormick & Company, Inc. (MKC), Abbott Laboratories (ABT), Textron Inc (TXT), Novartis AG (NVS), The Boeing Company (BA), Hess Corporation (HES), Santander Consumer USA Holdings Inc (SC), State Street Corporation (STT) are expected to report.

AAPL heartbeat pulsed at 120, ending up 0.07% on very low volume. AAPL opened at 120 to high volume and pulsed up to an intra-day high of 120.81 on strong volume before slipping back down towards 120 on mild volume by 11am, slipping into the upper-119 area and setting an intra-day low of 119.77 at 11:54am on low volume. AAPL remained in a narrow range along 120 on very low volume for the remainder of the day. AAPL ended the day up 8 cents to 120.08 and gained 11 cents in after-hours to 120.19.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened lower and scraped a pre-market low of 118.91 at 5:49am before recovering the mid-119 area later in the morning. AAPL is currently down 70 cents at 119.36 as we approach the open.
