Apple Today 2/14/2017 V-Day (AAPL)

Good Morning,

S&P Futures are down 1 with -1 Fair Value, NASDAQ Futures are down 2 with -1 Fair Value and Dow Futures are down 3 on this initially flat start to Tuesday as Janet Yellen prepares to give a semi-annual testimony to the US Senate at 10am that could affect the markets.

This morning's Economic Calendar includes: NFIB Small Business Optimism Index, Producer Price Index, Fed's Lacker speech, Redbook Chain Store Sales, semi-annual testimony from Yellen followed by Fed's Kaplan: Monetary Policy this afternoon.

The earnings winners are: RetailMeNot, Inc. (SALE), up over 15.5% and GigPeak, Inc. (GIG), up nearly 13%. On the other hand Vonage Holdings Corp. (VG) is down over 6.5%, NetSol Technologies Inc. (NTWK) is down over 7% and Tata Motors Limited (TTM) is down 7%.

Futures were down in early morning yet managed to reclaim positive territory later in the morning and is off the highs as we approach the open.

Asian markets ended mostly down. China went up 0.03%, Hong Kong went down 0.03%, and Japan dropped 1.13%. European markets are mostly up. The UK is up 0.04%, Germany is down 0.06% and France is up 0.07%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is up 0.68%, natural gas is down 1.26% and gold is up 0.65%. Unleaded gas is up 1.11% and heating oil is up 0.74%. Metals are up except copper. Meats are down. Cocoa and coffee are up while cotton, corn, wheat and soybeans are down.

Yellen says Congress should focus on Economy's productivity. UK inflation rate rises less than expected, stays below 2%.

GigPeak, Inc. (GIG) reported Q4 results yesterday afternoon with adjusted earnings of 5 cents per share that met expectations and is up nearly 13% in pre-market. Flowers Foods, Inc. (FLO) announced Q4 results with adjusted earnings of 16 cents per share that met expectations and is down nearly 3.5%. Rent-A-Center Inc. (RCII) reported Q4 results and is down over 5.5%.

T-Mobile US, Inc. (TMUS) reported Q4 results this morning with profit of 45 cents per share that beat expectations and is down nearly 0.5% in pre-market. Vonage Holdings Corp. (VG) announced Q4 results with adjusted earnings of 3 cents per share that missed expectations and is down over 6.5%. Credit Suisse Group AG (CS) reported Q4 results and is up over 0.5%. RetailMeNot, Inc. (SALE) announced Q4 results with adjusted earnings of 37 cents per share that beat expectations and is up over 15.5%. Molson Coors Brewing Company (TAP) reported Q4 results with adjusted earnings of 46 cents per share and is down over 2.5%. Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. (DPS) announced Q4 results with adjusted earnings of $1.04 per share that missed expectations and is down nearly 3%. Tata Motors Limited (TTM) is down 7% after reporting a 97% drop in sales of luxury brand Jaguar and Land Rover. Diebold Inc. (DBD) reported a Q4 loss with adjusted earnings of 32 cents per share that missed expectations and is down over 1.5%. NetSol Technologies Inc. (NTWK) is down over 7% after reporting Q2 results that missed expectations. Discovery Communications, Inc (DISCA) announced and is down nearly 0.5%.

This afternoon after the bell, look out for earnings from Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc. (SKT), HubSpot, Inc. (HUBS), LendingClub Corporation (LC), American International Group Inc (AIG), MoneyGram International, Inc. (MGI), Agilent Technologies Inc. (A), Devon Energy Corporation (DVN), Express Scripts, Inc. (ESRX), Fossil, Inc. (FOSL), Potbelly Corporation (PBPB), Chimera Investment Corporation (CIM) and Caesars Entertainment (CZR).

Tomorrow morning before the open, Wyndham Worldwide Corporation (WYN), Wix.com (WIX), PepsiCo Inc. (PEP), Groupon, Inc. (GRPN), Analog Devices Inc. (ADI), SodaStream International (SODA), Angie's List, Inc. (ANGI) and Hilton Worldwide Holdings (HLT) are expected to report.

AAPL took off like a rocket yesterday, ending up 89% on low volume. AAPL opened at 133.08 to high volume and immediately set an intra-day low of 132.75 before soaring up to all-time highs of 133.82 at 9:44am on relatively strong volume. AAPL then dipped back into the low-133 area just after 11am on low volume before popping up again and "cut off" just below the day's highs during lunchtime on low volume. Prevented from moving higher, AAPL sold off again back to the low-133 area in the afternoon on low volume with a failed attempt to hold mid-133 on low volume ahead of the close followed by a moderate volume dip into the close. In the end, AAPL ended the day up $1.17 at 133.29 and gained another 10 cents in after-hours to 133.39.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened up higher and held the mid-133 zone on an early morning upgrade from Vetr Inc. to Buy and a 138.77 price target before dipping from all-time highs back into the low-133 area ahead of the open. AAPL is currently down 22 cents at 133.07 as we approach the open.
