Apple Today 4/21/2017 OPEX (AAPL)

Good Morning,

S&P Futures are up 3 with +3 Fair Value, NASDAQ Futures are up 8 with +8 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 18 as we cap off an exciting week with OPEX. A trajic attack in Paris yesterday looms over France's upcoming general election, just days away. Techwise, the Samsung Galaxy S8 begins sales in USA today and Bitcoin is up at 1,267 after peaking near 1,275 earlier.

This morning's Economic Calendar includes: Fed's Kashkari speech, PMI Composite Flash and Existing Home Sales followed by Baker-Hughes Rig Count this afternoon.

The earnings winners are: Honeywell International, Inc. (HON), up over 3%, Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. (SWK), up nearly 3% and Visa Inc. (V), up over 2%.

On the other hand, Mattel, Inc. (MAT) is down nearly 6% and Schlumberger Limited (SLB) is down nearly 1.5%.

Futures were up in early morning, moved up sharply to a peak just after 2:15am, dipped just before 5:30am and are near the highs as we approach the open.

Asian markets ended mixed. China went up 0.03%, Hong Kong went down 0.15% and Japan gained 1.03%. European markets are mostly up. The UK is up 0.11%, Germany is up 0.47% and France is down 0.05%.

Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is down 0.02%, natural gas is down 0.09% and gold is up 0.02%. Unleaded gas is up 0.23% and heating oil is down 0.04%. Metals are mixed, gold and platinum are up while silver and copper are down. Meats are mixed. cocoa and soybeans are up while Coffee, cotton, corn and wheat are down.

Visa Inc. (V) reported Q2 results yesterday afternoon that beat expectations and is up over 2% in pre-market. Mattel, Inc. (MAT) announced Q1 results that missed expectations and is down nearly 6%. Skechers USA Inc. (SKX) reported Q1 results with profit of 60 cents per share that beat expectations and is up slightly. E*TRADE Financial Corporation (ETFC) announced Q1 results with earnings of 48 cents per share that beat expectations and is up nearly 3%.

General Electric Company (GE) reported Q1 results this morning with mixed results and is up over 0.5% in pre-market. Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. (SWK) announced Q1 results with adjusted earnings of $1.29 per share that beat expectations and is up nearly 3%. Schlumberger Limited (SLB) reported Q1 results with adjusted earnings of 25 cents per share that met expectations and is down nearly 1.5%. Honeywell International, Inc. (HON) announced Q1 results with adjusted earnings of $1.66 per share that beat expectations and is up over 3%. SunTrust Banks, Inc. (STI) reported Q1 results with adjusted earnings of 87 cents per share that beat expectations and is up over 1.5%.

This afternoon after the bell, look out for earnings from Morningstar, Inc. (MORN).

AAPL tipped the scales to green and swung into the upper-143 area yesterday, ending up 1.25% on low volume. AAPL opened up at 141.22 to high volume and immediately set an intra-day low of 141.16 before gaining the upper-141 area on strong volume. AAPL continued to rise through the morning and crossed 142 shortly before noon on low volume. During lunch, AAPL continued up sharply on moderate volume and went on towards 143, setting an intra-day high of 142.92 at 2:06pm. AAPL held the upper-142 area until minutes before the close when AAPL dipped sharply into the bell on high volume. Despite the dip, AAPL ended the day up $1.76 at 142.44 and lost 2 cents in after-hours to 142.42.

This morning in pre-market, AAPL continued with yesterday's close and hung around the mid-142 area in a narrow range as good reviews for Samsung's Galaxy S8 roll in. AAPL is currently up 6 cents at 142.50 as we approach the open.
